Liberative Somatic Psychotherapy
The therapy I practice is based on many years of careful study of the mind and body. Over the years I have gained a deep trust in the wisdom of our minds and bodies and have learned how to support others in taking full advantage of this wisdom.
The work I do is deep and life-changing.
It is not for the faint of heart. I have seen that for us to truly heal, many of the paradigms by which we live will have to be seen through and uprooted. This is almost inevitably a scary process, but one which I have found is well worth the effort.
I have found experiential work to be more important than talk-based work for truly creating the change my people are seeking, which means I guide my people to experience themselves in new ways, to open to the needs and movements of their body, and in practicing new ways of being in session together.

Inside each part of you that you run from is a treasure.
I can see through the fear my people have of their minds and emotions. I can see the goodness underneath what's seems bad or harmful. I support my people in releasing what isn't useful from these old patterns that we've been imprisoned by so that the natural and inherent beauty underneath can shine through. You are already whole and perfect. You can recognize and live from this knowing.
I rely a great deal on Somatic Experiencing® and Internal Family Systems in my work with clients, both incredibly useful models for resolving trauma and restoring flow and resiliency to the nervous system and compassion to the psyche. I also rely on the practice of Mindfulness and meditation and what I have learned from my experience with different Buddhist traditions and various spiritual practices. In addition, I trained with Steve Terrell in Somatic Practice work, an incredibly respectful somatic model which uses touch to support nervous system regulation. All the support I offer is grounded in the larger understanding that has emerged for me through my own awakening process. |
Another frame I hold in helping my clients find balance is one I have gained from my own exploration of feminine and masculine ways of being. No matter our gender, healing from the wounds of patriarchy, releasing toxic masculine and feminine patterns and supporting the uncovering of healthy feminine and healthy masculine energy is important. I am also doing my own work to dismantle white supremacy within myself and to support my clients, whether white or people of color, in healing from the wounds of white supremacy. I have also studied attachment theory, codependency, narcissism, polyamory, and relationship anarchy. All of these pieces I've named can support you in releasing trauma and in awakening to your True Nature.

“The doors to the world of the wild Self are few but precious. If you have a deep scar, that is a door, if you have an old, old story, that is a door. If you love the sky and the water so much you almost cannot bear it, that is a door. If you yearn for a deeper life, a full life, a sane life, that is a door.”
