Liberative Somatic Psychotherapy & Spiritual Support
I like to get to the root of things.
I am not inclined towards superficiality or quick fixes. This is how I ended up walking the path of awakening, and why offering this path to others who wish to deeply heal is the only thing that makes sense for me.
Traditional therapy can certainly be helpful, but it doesn't truly address the fundamental causes of human suffering. So it can be a bit of a merry-go-round, and in many ways, makes promises that I feel are disengenuous. When our healing path is grounded in an awakened perspective, it addresses the core misunderstandings that can keep us slogging through similar emotional patterns without relief.
Awakening is a word that conjures up lots of different things for people. What I mean by using that word is that I support my clients and students in recognizing the true nature underlying their experience. This includes recognizing how the mind works and understanding the nature of the separate self sense. I support my people in beginning to trust that which lies outside of our conditioned belief systems, to rely on the wisdom of the body and the heart, and to use the mind as a tool when it’s needed rather than as a place to find identity or a way to define reality.
It's one thing to have an experience of deep recognition of reality, and quite another to live from this recognition in each moment. Integrating and embodying the awakened perspective is what leads to a deeper and more stable experience of peace in each moment, and this is what I help folks move towards. This includes a valuing of the relative perspective, and an ability to move between both relative and Ultimate perspectives without conflict.
Awakening is no joke. These days, it's more challenging than ever before. I have particular expertise in the challenges modern Westerners face in shifting their perspective in the way awakening asks. Our egos often need healing before they can take in Reality, as it truly is. Our egos often need to know their worthiness, to develop a sense of inner safety, to face their fears, and our nervous systems often need more regulation before we can go beyond worthiness and worthlessness, can make space for the reality of death, and are willing to be ourselves, whatever that means.
To support egoic healing, I rely on trauma work (primarily Somatic Experiencing® and Organic Intelligence), parts work (Internal Family Systems), masculine-feminine rebalancing work, spiritual bypassing work, relational work, nature work and working to dismantle oppressive paradigms within the psyche.
One thing that sets my teaching and therapy apart is my deep trust in the wisdom available to us when we relax. I have learned that our bodies and psyches already know how to heal. As soon as we learn to listen, healing is what starts to happen. I can help facilitate this process and support you in moving through what blocks it.
I want to help you heal and transfom to the fullest extent possible. I want to support you in recognizing the peace that already pervades your experience. I want to support you in going beyond the incredible amounts of un-truth that characterize modern culture and our modern conditioning. I want to support you in seeing the beauty and intelligence in that which you run from in yourself. I want to support you in being who you are, without fear.
If this work speaks to you, I'd love to hear from you! Feel free to explore my website where I discuss my approach and my own story in more detail. And please contact me if you would like to make an appointment or have questions.
Wishing you the healing you're seeking.
Warmly,
Kristin
